One of the things I love most about my job is that I often find I learn just as much from my clients as they are (hopefully!) learning from me, and Bek is the perfect example of this. Bek left her career working for some of Perth's largest architectural firms, and on some of Perth's biggest and most iconic buildings, to start her own business whilst raising a young family. I know all too well the challenges of juggling a family with the constant demands of running and building a small business, and it was a pleasure for me to work with Bek on the refresh of her original business plan for Evolve. Her business is going from strength to strength and I can't wait to watch what comes next for her. Read more about the lovely Bek below x
I obviously have the benefit of hearing about so many brilliant business ideas, and I love the variety in what I do. But I can safely say that there is nothing out there like The Love Car. When I met Mandy, and first heard all about their business idea, I was blown away. It had such simplicity, but was so unusual and had so much personality. And the fact that their entire business idea centres around the emotional experience that music creates for their customers - well, I was a fan from day one! These guys have done a truly incredible job in setting up their business and I know it won't be long until everyone in Perth will know all about the awesomeness of The Love Car. I read an article the other day that alarmed me, but did not surprise me. It said that consumers are becoming more and more resistant to marketing, and social media marketing in particular. Now the reason why I say this is not surprising is because this is a trend that has been going on for decades. With the evolution of media and technology, consumers are becoming more and more savvy, knowledgeable and demanding, and in particular the 'digital natives' of the millennial (Gen Y) generation are the driving force behind a revolution of sorts. That is - businesses and brands are being forced to level up in their sales and marketing approach, to be more authentic, more personalised and more socially responsible. They want to do business with businesses that are invested in them, and making the world around them a better place.
When I first met Kirsten I was so thrilled she'd found me - Kirsten is one of those people that just grabs life by the neck and gives it her all - no matter what she does. Like me, she is a salesperson at heart - and I mean that as a huge compliment! She understands firstly that her business success is her responsibility, and understands how to go out there and create her own opportunities. And so for me, coaching her was so much fun, and watching all of her success is something that gives me a huge buzz. One of the things I really loved about Kirsten was her values - she has so much integrity and is so passionate about helping her clients. She is an absolute dynamo and deserves every bit of success that comes her way.
So tonight's feature is a very special one to me! I have known the gorgeous and very clever founder of The Meet Up Collective, Isabella Mitchell, literally all her life. We lived next door to each other growing up and my sister & I used to babysit Isabella and her younger sister - they are definitely family to us! Watching Isabella blossom into such a dynamic, confident and talented young woman has been (and continues to be!) an absolute pleasure, and I couldn't have been happier to help Isabella with the launch of her business. The Meet Up Collective is a collective with a conscience, and is going to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people all over Perth. As a mother of two it makes me so happy to see that there are young people like Isabella in the world - and I will be sending my kids her way when the time comes!
