I am delighted to be shining the spotlight on Mel Koch this week, owner of not one but TWO awesome small businesses. I have known Mel for a LONG time (we went to high school together) and I have always admired her. Mel has always been a go-getter and is genuinely passionate about helping others live healthier lives. For those of you that don’t know, I ran my own personal training business prior to launching One Small Step, and Mel was my mentor during this time. Tell us about your business and any specialties you have.
I run two businesses. I started Crank Health and Fitness in 2008, a mobile personal training business helping Perth women in business create and maintain healthier lifestyle habits to enhance the quality of their lives. After the birth of my daughter in 2015, I knew I wouldn’t be able to continue as a mobile personal trainer but I still wanted to be able to work from home. I started brainstorming ways I could help women in business all over the world to become healthier and provide them with the same tools and systems that had worked for my previous personal training clients. Healthier Women In Business was founded in 2016, where I specialise in providing bespoke lifestyle solutions for female business owners who are mindful about their health. With my online and offline strategies, I am able to help women all around the world create healthier lifestyle habits that allow them to become more productive, focused and motivated to achieve ongoing success in their business.
Over the past 8 years of speaking with and training busy and time poor female business owners, exercising and healthy eating is the easy part – it’s making the time to do it consistently that they struggle with. It’s not just about the strategies, I also show you how to take the appropriate steps to plan and organise your day to take control of your health. The moment you make your health a priority, your mind and body start to perform in a completely different way which allows you to have increased energy levels, less stress, more creativity, less sickness, new sparks of motivation, you become more organised, happier and get more done in your day.

My best seller includes the one-on-one calls – where I help clients with their time management struggles, planning and organisation strategies, exercise ideas or fitness program questions, food/snacking ideas and most of all to keep them accountable. Every client’s lifestyle is unique and so is their desire to achieve a certain level of health, fitness and wellness.
What makes your business stand out from the rest?
The tools and strategies I teach clients to use to achieve results for their health also transfers to their business. Time management, planning, organisation, systems, routines and habits – these are life skills and once you know how to use these effectively they can be assigned into all areas of your life which will save time, reduce stress, breed consistency, make your life run smoother and make you happier.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Being able to connect with, help and support amazing female business owner’s all over the world. Seeing clients using my tools and systems to achieve their goals (personal and business) makes me so proud to be their catalyst for change and success.

I am about to officially launch Healthier Women In Business, so there are lots of new products being created! Webinars are my next big project, stay tuned.
