I'm so excited to feature BubDesk as the first business on The Spotlight Series! Founder Meg Burrage and Community Director Asha Stabback are the ladies behind Perth's very FIRST co-working space with a crèche - which if you ask me is one of the best ideas I've ever heard of - I wish it was in existence when I had my daughter! Read more about BubDesk below.
Tell us more about your business and any specialties you have.
BubDesk is a co-working space with onsite child minding, designed especially with parents in mind. We are home to a number of self-employed small business owners and corporate professionals transitioning back into the workforce. We should also add, you don’t need to have a bub to join! The bubs are cared for on a separate floor and you won’t even know they’re there!
Please give us a rundown of your services and any best sellers.
BubDesk is more than a co-working space. We also offer business development workshops and seminars, opportunities to network and collaborate with likeminded professionals and have a state-of-the art crèche that is staffed by fully qualified early childhood educators at a fraction of the cost of daycare. Both casual and monthly membership options are available and we also have workshop space and boardrooms available to book by the hour, with crèche facilities for your clients.
What makes your business different to your competitors?
Up until this point the co-working spaces in Perth have been very male dominated and quite tech orientated. BubDesk offers a feminine touch where customer service is paramount and you’ll find a diverse range of skills amongst the group – everything from swimwear design, to app development. Whatever line of work you’re in, we get you! BubDesk might be run by women, but men are more than welcome to come along.
What's your favourite part of your job?
The best part of my job is seeing the sheer relief on our members faces when they can finally get some undistracted work done! We have a number of members whose partners work shift work or FIFO, who might be single parents or whose extended family lives interstate. Just a few hours at BubDesk to power through their to-do list and they always walk out beaming with satisfaction.
Anything exciting on the horizon for your business?
BubDesk opened in Northbridge in February and we already have 2 new branches in the pipeline, one in the CBD and a third branch in Fremantle. We have our sights set on interstate next year and would love nothing more than to see a BubDesk branch accessible to all working parents.
Any special offers you'd like to share?
For all new members we offer a free co-working day, so that you can come in and road-test the BubDesk service. There is zero obligation to commit and if you’re lucky the weekly mobile masseur might be in that day to spoil you with a neck and shoulder massage.
