If I could choose one 'knowledge set' to magically implant itself in my mind, it would be accounting & tax. It might seem boring to some but this stuff is SUPER important if you want to get ahead in business. I'm so pleased to have Stacey Price on The Spotlight Series - she is the owner of not one, but two businesses - Healthy Business Finances & FEAT Group. Read on to find out more about this very clever lady.
Tell us more about your business and any specialties you have.
I run a two businesses – one is a Financial Coaching, Accounting & Bookkeeping consulting business. Helping business owners learn to love and understand their numbers – specializing in cloud accounting. The other business is FEAT group – which stands for Financial Education Accounting & Training. This business is a membership based business aimed at helping startups and entrepreneurs navigate the journey from idea to profit. I really am a numbers nerd at heart – and I love seeing clients understand their financial reports and/or accounting system for the first time. I see myself as a teacher – and not your typical accountant!
Please give us a rundown of your services and any best sellers.
My services include Financial Strategy sessions to ensure your business is setup in the right manner (from a financial perspective), focusing on ATO obligations, employer obligations, budgeting, pricing, cash flow and systems to streamline your day to day operations. These include one on one sessions in person (where applicable) or sessions via Skype. Our best seller service is our Xero training sessions – where we help business owners use their accounting software efficiently and accurately. We know the shortcuts to save you time and stress. Our membership site, FEAT group also provides monthly live webinars on all topics to do with starting, running and growing a financially successful business. These are raw and real – and proving very popular.
What makes your business different to your competitors?
We pride ourselves on not being the "traditional" accounting firm. Yes, I am an accountant, but I don’t have an office (I either co work, or visit clients to work with them), I don’t wear a suit and heels, I don’t carry a briefcase (an ipad and I am good to go), I understand the startup phase and running two businesses’ myself – and I understand the hustle that you have to do to just survive – plus I make finances fun. Yes that is right – you won’t get through a training session with me and not laugh.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
So many, but I guess the best part is seeing the light bulb moments with clients when they look at me and say "that is the first time my bank has reconciled in 4 years" – or they say "OMG, I finally understand". To think that so many business owners are running a business financially blind, and that I can help to make them see clearer – well that to me is amazing. I love numbers, and helping people learn is for me true enjoyment. Plus I also love being able to take a long weekend and head to the beach every now and then too !!
Anything exciting on the horizon for your business?
There is always something going on in my chaotic life. My next speaking opportunity is at "Women in the West" – a women in business event in the western suburbs of Melbourne https://www.trybooking.com/Booking/BookingEventSummary.aspx?eid=192495 I am also speaking at Sprout Summit in Melbourne in July – the must attend for those who run or work in a Not For Profit. http://sproutsummit.com/
