So it's fair to say I'm a little bit obsessed with virtual assistants lately. And it's an obsession that could last a while. Why? VA's are such a great option for so many businesses, without having to hire your own employee or subcontract. In my opinion, it's the perfect solution for small business owners that need to free up some time (who doesn't!) to concentrate on what they're really good at. Tell us more about your business and any specialties you have.
MJS Virtual Business Support has been providing reliable, efficient and flexible virtual business support services to small business and solo entrepreneurs since 2009. What started as a lifestyle decision based around my need to be at home while my cherubs were young (back in the days when I thought the whole working from home thing would be “easy” – wow, how wrong was I!), has now developed into a thriving business. I have a real passion for working with other small business owners and entrepreneurs to whip their back ends (the business kind!) into shape and really take their businesses to the next level.
Please give us a rundown of your services and any best sellers.
MJS is a “one stop shop” for small business. I’ve worked really hard to develop our really unique blend of services so that whether clients need email marketing, web design, social media, transcription or administration in general, we have them covered.
We have recently launched a new range of email marketing and social media packages which are really shaping up to be best sellers! We identified that a lot of start-ups and small businesses were struggling to get their heads around how to get established on social media and email marketing, and also how to manage all of those systems on a monthly basis. That’s where we come in. We have designed a suite of email marketing and social media packages starting from the initial account set up stage, through to monthly packages for social media content curation and monthly eNewsletter design.
What makes your business different to your competitors?
Look, I don’t want to toot my own horn here, but we can do it all. We have the skills and breadth of experience that means we can truly be a “one stop shop” for our clients. Whether you need help with social media, email marketing, offsite administration or web design and maintenance, we have your back.
By partnering with our service there is no need to hire a virtual assistant AND a web designer AND a social media assistant AND an email marketer; we can cover all bases for you which means you have continuity of service and don’t need to waste your time dealing with multiple touch points.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
They say that variety is the spice of life and if that is true then my life is like a blast of hot chilli and I LOVE it! I tend to get bored quickly so I love that no two days in my business are ever the same. My clients are from such a broad spectrum of industries that my days are always varied and exciting.
A typical day could involve finishing off the design of a sparkly new website, scheduling a month worth of social media content, transcribing a PhD research project, updating multiple CRM systems and designing some new eNewsletter headers – and that’s just before lunch!
I am a big believer in only working with clients that I have a connection with, and because of that I have a fabulous bunch of clients on my books, and that really helps put a smile on my dial each and every day.
Anything exciting on the horizon for your business?
The last few months have been massively exciting for us, as we have undergone a huge rebranding process to match our “one stop shop” direction. The first step was an awesome new logo and colour scheme, which then flowed through to all our other branding and marketing material, and culminated with a total website redesign and relaunch in April. It was a huge month but we feel that the new branding is more congruent with the phase that we are in, the clients that we want to attract and the direction that we are now taking on our journey.
