“You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with”
~ Jim Rohn
I never believed this statement until I saw it work its magic in my own life.
I have always been entrepreneurial minded, however business success definitely didn’t come naturally to me. It felt like I was always swimming up hill, and it would be one step forward, two steps backwards.
It wasn’t until I was introduced to a Perth girl boss named Carly, at a networking event that my web designer was hosting. I was instantly in awe of Carly, who had started 2 successful businesses and was only 30, so I stepped outside of my comfort zone and invited her to coffee.
Carly took me under her wing and became my unofficial mentor. She introduced me to others in the Perth entrepreneurial community and that’s when things really started happening for my business.
When you think about it, it’s simple really. Monkey see, monkey do. If you’ve ever been around a 2 year old you will know they copy absolutely everything you say and do. They are learning from watching and immersing themselves. Just think of accents, when we move to a different country for an extended period of time it is normal to take on their accent.
But there is more at work here…
Tony Robbins states human connection as one of the six human needs. Our sub-conscious mind is continuously working in the background to help us fit in.
As aspiring entrepreneurs especially, we need to be selective, and purposefully put ourselves in the right places, with the right people, in order to achieve our lofty business goals. The trick is finding those people who are a few steps ahead of you, and surround yourself with them. That’s why masterminds work so well, they live and breathe this concept!
So for me, with a deep desire to become a successful in business, it made sense to surround myself with successful entrepreneurs. I started attending lots of networking events (blargh I hate that word networking.) But they were all so stuffy, and I walked away with a million business cards and not one REAL conversation or connection. No wonder I started seeing these events as a chore, rather than an enjoyable outing.
That’s when Fusion Ladies Events was born. The concept of surrounding yourself with the right people, in an enjoyable setting, forming not just connections but friendships, and having real conversations. That’s how it should be!
I love hosting collaborative events for Perth Girl Bosses because I believe connections and friendships are the true source of happiness, not how much money you can make. I love seeing people’s eyes light up when they’re having a real conversation about something they are passionate about, with someone who is equally passionate about their business and success.
At a Fusion Ladies event you can expect:
Less solicitation ~ more collaborations
Less awkwardness ~ more inspiring conversations
Less business cards ~ more genuine connections
We are currently hosting Entrepreneurial Round Table Dinners, a mastermind style dinner, offering an intimate and collaborative experience for those looking to connect with likeminded entrepreneurs on a more genuine level.
What we are most excited about right now is our #GirlBoss Brekkie Series which launched at South of Perth Yacht Club on Sunday 29th May, with Lanna as our guest speaker!
The #GirlBoss Brekkie Series is a monthly morning of connecting and celebrating local Perth Girl Bosses, with guest speakers and a spotlight on your business. See our website for full details and the next brekkie date!
As a One Small Step Business Coaching reader, I would love to offer you a special discount for the next brekkie, using the code is ONESTEP upon checkout.
I will leave you with a few more quotes to support this wonderfully exhilarating idea, that the key to your entrepreneurial success is surrounding yourself with the right people:
“It’s not about WHAT you know, it’s about WHO you know…”
“People buy YOU, not your business”
“Your network is your net worth”
