I am super pumped to be shining the spotlight on the incomparable Brooke Vivoda from Villa Management in tonight's feature. I met Brooke only 6 months ago at a Fusion Biz Babes networking event, and was immediately so impressed by the drive and vivacity she had. Brooke is one of the most talented and professional women I have met in the Perth small business community and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching her meteoric rise over the second half of 2016. Several of my coaching clients have attended Brooke's social media workshops and not only did not stop raving about them, but have the results to back it up. AND I am super excited to be collaborating with Brooke on a special masterclass event in the not-to-distant future. Read more about this amazing woman below x
Can you share the story of why you started your business?
It’s been 1 year and 4 months since I sat on my apartment floor at 3am jetlagged from a “finding myself on the top of a mountain cos I just quit the job I’ve been in for the better part of a decade and have no idea what to do with my life” overseas trip. (Note: I didn’t find myself on that mountain. I don’t actually know if anyone ever does. But if there is a man on a mountain somewhere handing out “Your life guide 101” handbooks, he needs to check his location in on FB stat.) With a background in marketing and events, I registered a business name – Villa Management. I felt like “management” was a safer word than “marketing” or “events” as I didn’t want to pigeon hole myself. My goal at the time was clear. I would either run Cirque du Soleil’s next international production or the Victoria’s Secret Christmas show. No biggie. In my industry, I was known for my epic event management skills, so why WOULDN’T they hear about a little nobody from Perth, Australia and request my services IMMEDIATELY?! So I set off on my journey. My first event didn’t follow with a call from Mr Victoria’s Secret. Shocking. Another event and no email from the Cirque du Soleil board of directors. Unbelievable. What was happening?! And to make matters worse, in the process of organising these events I’d hit some HUGE personal life hurdles that I never saw coming which emotionally and mentally tore me to shreds AND financially I wasn’t making the 6 figure income I’d ignorantly hoped for. With my bank balance heading closer and closer to zero, it was time for me to step back and reassess my goals. Amongst all of this I’d also launched a little online accessories store with a friend and even though FB and the ‘Gram had always been my jam, I found myself suddenly addicted to researching the latest news, updates, tips and tricks for successful business marketing on Social Media. Armed with this knowledge I managed to grow our Instagram following from 0 to 10k in 6 months and within our first week of launching we’d made back 25% of our original investment. It was at this point that I had my “AH-HA” MOMENT.. why don’t I share this knowledge with other business owners? I opened up Social Media workshops and one on one consulting as part of my Villa Management services that took off faster than I could book them in and 1 year later I completely rebranded myself as a Social Media Connection Expert. From September to December 2016, I’d worked with 97 businesses on improving and understanding their Social Media strategies. In 2017 my goal is to work with 1000! If you haven’t noticed by now I like to aim high!
Tell us more about the services you offer.
I offer 2 services – group workshops and one on one acceleration sessions.
The Group Workshop series is made up of 3 workshops focused on the 3 biggest problem areas that businesses are experiencing when it comes to marketing their brand using Social Media.
1) Understanding how to attract your ideal customer and why this is SO important to get right first
2) Understanding how to keep them engaged – putting the “Social” back in Social Media
3) Understanding how to convert this engagement into sales – are you getting a return on investment and if not why not?
All workshops are 3 hour interactive sessions where attendees will start to implement new strategies for successful Social Media growth in a fun and supportive environment.
WORKSHOP 1: GROUND ZERO
The first workshop in the 3 part series is where I recommend all of my new clients begin. This workshop is called Ground Zero. Ground Zero’s main focus is branding and content. Getting your branding and content right is the starting point to successfully connecting to your customers via Social Media. Giving them what they want to see, mixed with the right knowledge, increases credibility and builds trust – the foundation of any successful relationship. Nurture these relationships and you are successfully connecting to your market on Social Media.
Ground Zero covers:
- Social Media Branding: how to get it RIGHT
- Tactics to ATTRACT your IDEAL customer
- Working out WHAT to post and WHY
WORKSHOP 2: THE GUIDE
Now we’re talking! Following on from Ground Zero, attendees now understand what Social Media Connection is all about, where it begins, and why it’s SO important to get this right FIRST! They’ve IDENTIFIED their ideal customer, mastered WHAT they should be posting and why, so now we categorise all of this information this into a clear guide to help keep them on track and accountable!
- Categorising Content
All workshop attendees create a tailored 7 day guide for their business Social Media marketing on Instagram and Facebook, using the Social Media Connection method from Ground Zero.
WORKSHOP 3: STRATEGY MASTERMIND
This is the strategy session intensive. Social Media Mastermind is the pinnacle where we bring it all together. We access what’s working and what’s not. This is your permanent strategy. This session is the catalyst of everything coming together. This is where the last 2 workshops make sense and it’s becoming a really workable strategy to grow your Social Media. This is a results based workshop. Your results from workshop 1 and 2 drive workshop 3. I keep numbers in this session limited to ensure that I can really get into results and strategy with each individual but also to learn from each other’s results and findings.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Not a day goes by that I don’t have “OMG I FRIGGEN LOVE WHAT I DO!” thoughts – most days I have them multiple times a day! I live for the ‘ah-ha’ moments. The moments of pure clarity when everything clicks and my clients finally see results! Nothing makes me happier than helping other people succeed in business and when I get feedback from clients that the work that they are putting into their Social Media is getting them the response they have so longed for it puts a smile on my face from ear to ear.
What’s your #1 tip for those just launching their business?
Just get started on Social Media – having A presence is better than having NO presence! Don’t be scared to experiment – that’s what Social Media is all about.. you might be better at it than you think!
Anything exciting in store you’d like to share?
In March this year I’m organising an exciting event focused on what you DON’T see on Social Media – running a business is not always the highlight reel that fills so many feeds and it’s time we embraced those Perth business women that appear to have it all together but also have A LOT going on behind the scenes. I’m collaborating with the incredible Ash from Fusion Biz Babes to bring this event to Perth to celebrate International Women’s Day and have some seriously incredible speakers lined up – stay tuned for the announcement. We can’t wait!
